THE HOWEN is a single-story family home, 2,000 square feet planned to get the most livable space out of its footprint. One generous gable covers an open living, dining, and kitchen core, with daylight coming in from both long walls. Two bedrooms today, with room framed in to add a third as the family grows. The construction set is issued, fully detailed and drawn for efficient framing and a high-performance envelope.
The Living Spaces.
Living, dining, and kitchen share one continuous volume under the exposed ridge. Big openings connect inside to out, so the rooms borrow space and light from the landscape around them.
The Kitchen.
Planned as the working center of the house. Long counter runs, real storage, and a tight triangle between range, sink, and table. Every step counted, then shortened.
Construction.
Framed with material-efficient techniques that cut waste and labor while hitting a tighter, better-insulated shell than conventional practice. The isometric section below is the frame exactly as it gets built.
